Our Lead Pastor is Jon Hix. Prior to taking the helm of Legacy Church, he led Orchard Hills Baptist from November of 2001 until it and First Baptist merged (see History). Before that, Pastor Jon served Ebenezer Baptist Church on Cayman Brac in the Cayman Islands from May of 1996 until November of 2001. We have been blessed by his steady leadership and his faithful teaching of God's Word. Pastor Jon is married to his beautiful wife Allison, they have a delightful daughter named Selah and a fun dog named Bene. We are grateful that God has made them part of the Legacy family.
Steve Monette is the newest addition to our staff, coming on board in November 2017 as our Minister of Discipleship. However, he has been a faithful member of Legacy since 2006 and has served diligently in many capacities. As our Minister of Discipleship, Steve will give special focus to the area of discipleship (see Being a Disciple). Pictured with Steve is his lady-friend Kelly Govan. We warmly welcome both to the Legacy family.
Gary Elfner, Jr. serves as our Building Manager. As such, he not only oversees maintenance, but also serves as Legacy's liaison to the various community groups who use our building. Gary and his wife Miko were very involved in the ministry of First Baptist for many years and continue to serve faithfully through Legacy. Gary also volunteers in our FRe Ministry, and he and Miko volunteer in our music and worship ministry.
Dale Myers is one of our deacons. He is the husband of Margaret, father of Stephen, Stewart, and Blythe, and grandfather of Isaac, Eddie, Nate, and Ben. Dale and Margaret minister to our more seasoned saints in their sixties and above. Dale also actively serves in our Building and Grounds department, and Margaret is one of our volunteer receptionists.
Keith Varhol, also one of our deacons, is the husband of Dodie, father of Bill, Amy, and Lisa, and grandfather of Grace, Zachary, Emma, and Griffin. Keith and Dodie minister generally to those in their forties and fifties. Keith also takes an active role in helping manage the church finances, and Dodie gives much of her time to Community Outreach.
Paul Slowinski, the third of our deacons, is the husband of Lynnet and father of Caleb and Madison. Paul and Lynnet minister to our younger membership, generally those in their twenties and thirties. Paul and Lynnet also serve in our Children's Ministry and take their turn with our AV team during worship services.
