As stated in our Mission Statement, Legacy Church exists to build a legacy of Christ-followers who are experiencing God’s grace, growing in Christ's likeness, and unreservedly loving God, one another, and the world.

This mission is an ancient mission, the same mission Christ gave His first followers, and the same mission embraced by Bible-believing churches around the world.  Christ's words describe it best:  “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28.18-20).

This raises an important question:  what is a "disciple"?  The word “disciple” means “learner” or “pupil.”  Jesus often used the word “follower.”  A basic definition of a disciple then is a “follower of Jesus Christ.”

What does this look like practically?  We encourage you to take a moment and view this video, and then continue reading below to see how we describe a disciple at Legacy.

What does a disciple look like?  While it’s difficult to summarize all the teaching and example of Jesus into a few short phrases, the following is our effort to present a basic description of a Jesus-following disciple.  As you read, it's helpful to imagine following Christ as a journey, occurring one step at a time, one day at a time.

A disciple . . .
1.  Has become aware of their sin and of God’s gracious gift of salvation through Jesus Christ.
2.  Has come into relationship with God by repenting of their sin and trusting in Jesus Christ as their personal Lord & Savior.
3.  Has been baptized by immersion after accepting Christ and has joined fellowship with a local church.
4.  Is finding their ultimate joy, purpose, worth, and fulfillment in knowing and following Christ.
5.  Is growing in Christlikeness through weekly corporate worship, regular small group participation, and daily personal Bible study and prayer.
6.  Is serving their church and the world by giving of their time, treasure, and talent.
7.  Is making other disciples by building relationships with those outside the church, intentionally sharing their faith with them, and helping them follow Christ.

This obviously doesn't happen overnight!  But it does happen as one faithfully follows Christ.  We invite you to join us on this journey.
